AFTER INSTALLATION OF THE MOST
UP-TO-DATE NEXT GENERATION 911 (NG911) EQUIPMENT, AND CONNECTING TO AN NG911
CORE SERVICE PROIDER, MACON COUNTY ENHANCED 911
PROVIDES "HOST" SERVICES FOR CLARK, SCOTLAND AND SCHUYLER
COUNTIES. THIS HAS ALLOWED THOSE COUNTIES TO GO FROM BASIC 911 TO FULLY
ENHANCED NG911. MACON COUNTY ENHANCED 911 HAS 3 ANSWERING POSITIONS,
ANSWERING CALLS FOR MACON AND KNOX COUNTIES. CLARK, SCOTLAND AND SCHUYLER
COUNTIES EACH HAVE TWO ANSWERING POSITIONS, AND
ARE CAPABLE OF ANSWERING CALLS ORIGINATING IN THEIR OWN COUNTIES. THE
SYSTEM ALLOWS EACH POSTION TO BACK UP ANOTHER POSITION IF NECESSARY. CLARK COUNTY IS THE NEWEST COUNTY TO BE
HOSTED BY MACON COUNTY 911, WITH HOPES TO BE FULLY ONLINE WITH NG911 SERVICES
IN JANUARY OF 2025.
THIS SYSTEM HAS BEEN MADE
POSSIBLE THROUGH THE MISSOURI 911 SERVICE BOARD'S GRANT PROCESS.
NG911 CORE SERVICES HAS
NOW BEEN BROUGHT TO SEVEN NORTHEAST MISSOURI COUNTIES. MACON, KNOX, (MCE911)
MARION, RALLS, LEWIS,(NECOMM), SCOTLAND, AND SCHUYLER
COUNTIES WHO ARE ALL PART OF A REGIONAL PROJECT WHERE UPGRADES WERE MADE TO THE
CALL DELIVERY METHODS. THE PREVIOUS DELIVERY OF 911 CALLS THROUGH LEGACY
EQUIPMENT HAS BECAME A THING OF THE PAST, WITH 911 CALLS BEING HANDLED AND
DELIVERED DIFFERENTLY USING THE LATEST TECHNOLOGY. THE ENTIRE NE REGION
OF THE STATE IS NOW IN THE PROCESS OF ALL 911 CENTERS CONNECTING TO THE NG 911
CORE SERVICE NETWORK AFTER RECENT APPROVAL FROM THE MISSOURI 911 SERVICE BOARD. THE BOARD APPROVED NEARLY 4 MILLION DOLLARS
IN GRANTS FOR ALL 16 COUNTIES IN THE REGION, AND 5 SURROUNDING COUNTIES TO UPGRADE
THEIR EXISTING 911 EQUIPMENT IF NECESSARY AND CONNECT TO THE NETWORK. ALL 21 COUNTIES WILL MOVE TO RAPID SOS
PREMIUM WHICH ALLOWS THE LOCAL GIS DATA TO BE UPLOADED AND USED IN CONJUNCTION
WITH GOOGLE MAPS, AND ALLOWS FOR THE LOCATION OF ALL
911 CALLS NOT JUST WIRELESS.
911 CALLS ARE DELIVERED BASED ON
THE CALLERS LOCATION, NOT LOCATION OF THE EQUIPMENT, SUCH AS CELL PHONE TOWERS
OR ROUTERS. TRUE TEXT MESSAGING, INCLUDING PICTURE MESSAGING IS
AVAILABLE, AND CALLS CAN BE TRANSFERRED WITH COMPLETE DATA TO THE PROPER 911
SYSTEM IF A CALL DOES NEED TO BE TRANSFERRRED. THE SYSTEM HAS FAIL SAFES
IN PLACE IF THE PRIMARY METHOD OF DELIVERY OF RECEIVING CALLS BECOMES
COMPROMISED, NEW DEVICES ARE AT EACH ANWERING POSITION TO RECIEVE THE CALL AND
DATA. THESE DEVICES ARE DESIGNED TO USE THE NG911 CORE NETWORK AS THE
PRIMARY MEANS OF CALL DELIVERY AS A FAILSAFE FOR BACKROOM EQUIPMENT FAILURES,
AND IN THE EVENT OF A NG911 CORE NETWORK OUTAGE, THEY AUTOMATICALLY SWITCH TO A
CELLULAR SIGNAL FOR CONTINUED OPERATION.
ALL OF THE REGION’S COUNTIES ARE
WORKING WITH INDIGITAL WHO PROVIDES THE NG911 CORE SERVICES. INDIGITAL
HAS FACILITIES IN BOTH ST LOUIS AND KANSAS CITY THAT PROVIDES CALL AND NETWORK
DIVERSITY AND REDUNDANCY TO EACH HOST SYSTEM (MCE911 AND NECOMM) THEY
ALSO PROVIDE UPDATED 911 DATABASE SERVICES, REPLACING THE LEGACY TELEPHONE 911
DATABASE SYSTEMS.
